Sisters, Engagement and The Skeleton Project Week 35

Sisters

Over the past month or so I have been planning to shoot for submission to a magazine. Last Saturday the day finally came! The weather was amazing, the team was fantastic, the models beautiful, the make-up elegant, the clothes exquisite and the location magical!

We all made our way the the quiet riverside town of Lewes, the location for the shoot was the Grange, normally used for quiet picnics and wedding photos. We turned one corner of it into out very own set, studio and fitting room.

Me with my favourite thing, unfortunately it turned out the cog that winds the film on was set wrong and I didn't actually get any photos of this shoot with it. However it will be used more in the future, a box of 120 film is on it's way! A previous blog post all about this camera can be seen here if you are interested. :P

This time no police were called to stop us shooting and no one fell off a wall, it all went smoothly and I can't wait to share the photos with you all! (wasn't meant to rhyme. :P ) I can't share any more from this shoot yet unfortunately, just keep your fingers crossed it gets accepted for submission! :D

Engagement Shoot and Brighton Media Centre

Also this week I did my first ever engagement shoot! It was nice to experience another side of photography and while it isn't exactly the sort of thing I would shoot usually it was still good fun and an enjoyable experience, the couple was also lovely, congratulations to them! :D Having a nice big studio to shoot in was a definite perk too! :P

The shoot took place at Brighton Media Centre where my friend Nadia works, she did the make-up/styling for the shoot too!

While the couple was having a look through the images I got to meet a great character who works there, he told me all sorts of great stories about photographers of the 60's in London where he used to work. So nice to talk to someone about photography in real life, I don't know maybe people who are actually interested in it haha.

The Skeleton Project

Week 35 and it's another wet one! Here is our bone based chum buggering about in water again!

Shoot for Chasseur Magazine and The Skeleton Project Week 34

Shoot for Chasseur Magazine

The other week I noticed the new Chasseur Magazine looking for content and I got in touch with them and after a little chat we decided to do a shoot for their upcoming issue. Straight away I contacted the beautiful Eleanor who I had shot with just a couple of week before (you can see that shoot here). Along with Eleanor I worked with the fantastic make-up artist Courtney Scarlett Boyd who I had also previously shot with (you can see that shoot here).

We drove to the quiet town of Eastbourne in beautiful weather to shoot in a little secluded garden area that happens to be behind a pub, not a bad bonus! Although when we walked in it did feel like walking into a saloon in a western... and the people dealing drugs in the toilet wasn't that great. Was nice in the beer garden though haha.

Here are some behind the scenes photos from the day!

Here are a couple of  back of camera previews, more to come from this shoot in a future blog post! :)

Nameless Rebellion Magazine

I was featured and interviewed in the 2nd issue of the wonderful Nameless Rebellion Magazine at the beginning of the month (for which I am so very grateful to the lovely editor Karina) and my copy popped through the letter box last Saturday! Although it isn't the first time I have been in a magazine it is the first time I have been able to get a copy and I must say it is very exciting! :D

You can view the entire magazine here, which I recommend you do, it's packed with great artists! And you can also purchase a print version there too.

Be sure to like Nameless rebellion Magazine on facebook and help support them! :)

The Skeleton Project

It's week 34! We had a nice bit of sun recently and I spent the whole day in the garden with my skeleton! Here is one of the photos I managed to get!

Shoot with Abi and Angela and The Skeleton Project Week 33

Shoot With Abi and Angela

The other week make-up artist Angela Wilkinson (who I worked with on the Boho Gypsy shoot) got in touch for a spur of the moment fashion shoot on Tuesday with the beautiful model Abi Green

Angela styled the shoot along with Abi and they did a wonderful job, we got some great colourful fashion shots around Brighton seafront. It was also the first time I had shot on the Pier which is kind of mad seeing as I live in Brighton!

Here are a few behind the scenes photo and a couple of previews too!

The Skeleton Project

Week 33 is here, another step closer to that 52 week mark! Something a bit summery for the old skeleton this week!

Eleanor and The Skeleton Project Week 32

Test With Eleanor

The other week I had a wonderful test shoot with the beautiful Eleanor Froud! Here are some of the finished photos! Some are digital and some analogue. :)

There are some different ones on my website too and also keep and eye on my Flickr as I will eventually upload all the others there too!

The Skeleton Project

Week 32 has arrived! I had been meaning to bury this skeleton in the sand for a while but finding the time to go to a sandpit without the risk of small children trampling all over it while I set up the photo was a bit of a pain. :P

Test With Eleanor and The Skeleton Project Week 31

Shoot With Eleanor

Last Tuesday I had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful Eleanor Froud! We decided to go to St Jame's park in London, we braved hot weather, Olympic crowds and unfortunately placed stinging nettles!

We got five different looks in the various locations around the park. As we were shooting the 2nd to last look in a patch of daises some crazy old woman called the police on us, apparently were weren't allowed past the little fence thing... luckily we managed to get the shots before we were moved so she didn't spoil things too much. :D

Here are a couple of previews!

Keep your eyes peeled in an upcoming blog post for the finished photos! :)

The Skeleton Project

So for week 31 I decided to give the skeleton a lovely milk bath! Good for it's bones I am sure! The daises stuck on it's head and in it's eyes are picked from my granny's garden and they all shrivelled up on the drive home, luckily they add to the whole dead vibe. :P

Don't forget you can follow the project here.

EBTG Bride and The Skeleton Project Week 30

EBTG Bride Shoot

A few weeks ago I had another shoot with M (you can see that entry here) for a bridal boutique called EBTG Bride, I just finished editing the photos and here are a few of them! :D

Credits for this shoot are:

Model/Stylist: M

I have also finished the photos from the shoot before that one but I am waiting to hear back to see if they will be published so I have to keep them hidden for a little bit longer... not too much longer though I hope as I can't wait to release them!

Making a Studio... update!

Over the past week I have been slowly converting my room into a usable work space, and now I have a place to do studio shoots if need be! Here is a little sketch I did before hand and this is what it turned out like, not too far off as it turns out. :P

Hopefully I will have some shoots to show you in the near future shot here!

The Skeleton Project

Week 30!! Still a little surprised I got this far! This weeks photo shows a little bit of a mutation, two heads are better than one, although I imagine these two would argue a lot. You can follow the project here.

Making a Studio and The Skeleton Project Week 29

Making a Studio!

So this week I decided I would give myself one month to properly set up my business, albeit on a very small scale! I am currently emptying my room out and setting up my backdrop, lights etc so I can start offering portrait sessions as well as having somewhere a bit more permanent to experiment. :D

I did a little sketch of what it will look like when it's finished and it is actually turning out quite well, I put the stuff up for a quick test and it looks ok, now it's time to repaint though!

The Skeleton Project

It's week 29! Not a huge amount to say about this one, I was experimenting with making an image that looked like an x-ray and this is what I ended up with. I will probably have another go at the x-ray another week, it was quite fun. :D You can follow the project here.

Last Shoot And The Skeleton Project Week 28

Last Shoot

As I mentioned in a the last post my good friend and the ever so talented and beautiful M is leaving England to pursue her career back in Poland, we had planned for our previous shoot to be our last but as it turned out we had time to fit one more in before she left!

Marta arrived along with Courtney (who would be doing the make-up) and we set off to start shooting. For this shoot we went to Stanmer Park, after doing the make-up at a pub in the Brighton Marina we drove to the park and searched for a good location. While the make-up was being done the weather was amazing, perfectly clear and warm but as soon as we arrived it began to get cloudy and cold again, typical but we still got some great shots and the sun did creep out every now and then so it wasn't too bad. :D

M had bought along a huge bag of wedding accessories for us to shoot with lent to us by the wonderful Natalie of bridal shop Everything But The Girl Bridal Boutique. Here are some more behind the scenes photos from the shoot:

Here are a couple of previews from the shoot too! :D

Credits for the shoot are:

Week 28 is here! Here it lies on the old shed steps, my dad ripped them out the other day to replace them, they have been there for as long as I have been alive... ahh shed steps lol. You can follow the project here.
