Kitsch Weekend, Golden Age Magazine and The Skeleton Project Week 44

Kitsch Weekend and Golden Age Magazine

Back in August I had a little shoot around Brighton seafront with the beautiful model Abi Green and the wonderfully talented make-up artist Angela Amelia  The photos focused on Abi having a good old colourful time on the rides, on the beach and on the pier.

With the colourful styling and the bright scenery as well as the plastic mood given off from the amusements I came to the name Kitsch Weekend for this shoot, imagining Abi enjoying a few days at the beach.

This shoot was submitted to the wonderful Golden Age Magazine and this week marks the release of issue 11 and within it's pages are some images from this shoot!

You can view the magazine in it's entirety by clicking the image below!

Here are some other images from the shoot!

And here is the little gif animation I made from this shoot again too!

Be sure to check out the team and the magazine!

Z Mode and The Skeleton Project Week 42 and 43

Shoot for Z-Mode

Last Sunday I made the trip to London to shoot the awesome Summer 2013 collection by Z-Mode. Unusually for the time of year we managed to land on a sunny day and were only troubled by the odd cloud in the way every now and then... having said that though it was bloody freezing for most of the time!

I met up with Sara at Victoria and we made our way to an apartment in Bethnal Green where the shoot prep was to be based. Once there we met up with the rest of the team. Stephanie who was modelling with Sara, Brendan who was doing the hair and make-up, Victoria who is the designer, Maria the stylist, and Michael, B and Lucie who were filming the behind the scenes video!

Here is a little back of camera preview from the day!

And one behind the scenes photo! More soon I am sure! :P

Fashion Photography 101 and The Skeleton Project Week 41

Fashion Photography 101

Several months ago I was approached by publishing company Ilex Press and photographer Lara Jade to shoot a set of images for a lighting guide with model Stephanie Linda Pause that would be included in the new book they were in the process of making.

You can see the behind the scenes blog entry here for that shoot. We were asked to shoot 13 different lighting setups for the studio section of the book. Here are a few of my favourites from the day!

And so last week I found out from Lara that the book had finally been released and I immediately went and ordered myself a copy of the book! A few days later and I was the proud owner! :D

Putting aside the fact that some of my work is included I must say that it is fantastic! Ilex and Lara have done an amazing job of putting the book together! Having access to Lara's vast knowledge of fashion photography any time you need it is great!

The way the book is laid out effortlessly guides you through each stage of fashion photography, from equipment to inspiration to setting up your studio and retouching your final images.

Along with all the essential information and advice the book is filled with Lara's amazing photography, immediately you are struck with one of her stunning portraits on the cover and it continued all the way through, it's both an art book and learning resource at the same time and I highly recommend it!

Here is a little .gif of the pages I worked on with Stephanie! If you get your hands on the book you will find me starting at page 74-81!

You can buy the book on Amazon here and I think it is stocked in major book shops too such as Waterstones. :)

Don't forget to check out Lara's amazing work, you can find her on her website or on facebook

And you should also have a look at Ilex Press they produce loads of great books! You can find them on their website and facebook too.

Also follow the always wonderful Stephanie as well! :)

Animated Preview and The Skeleton Project Week 38

Animated Preview

This week as been a bit quiet on the photography front, I am still whittling my way through a pile of editing, but here is a little something from a previous shoot! A new .gif animation from my shoot with Abi and Angela (you can see the blog post about that here).

The Skeleton Project

Week 38! Keeping on a slightly gloomy feel with this weeks photo. Maybe the skeleton got some bad news or perhaps it is the Sunday feeling, it even troubles the undead. :P

Shoot with Sara, Features and The Skeleton Project Week 37

Shoot with Sara

On Monday I met up with the beautiful Sara (who I shot with a few weeks ago, you can see that blog post here) for a little test shoot in the quiet seaside town of Eastbourne. In the morning the weather was grim, grey clouds all over and a spot of rain as well. Luckily by the time we met up around midday the clouds broke and the sun broke through, one of the warmest days this year ensued!

Here are a couple of previews from the day! :)

More soon! In the mean time be sure to like Sara's page on facebook! :)

Features

As well as a shoot on Monday I had a couple of rather pleasant surprises, the first was an interview in the blog of fellow Brighton based photographer Tom Welland, you can see that by clicking the image below!

As well as that I was also honoured with a feature of one of the best arts websites out there! The Nonsense Society! This is one of the biggest features of my work I have ever and and I am hugely grateful for it! You can see the full feature by clicking the image below!

Huge thanks to both Tom (@TomWelland) of Honeyroasthoax and Chris (@chrisiscreative) of The Nonsense Society for the features, be sure to follow them both!
